The Howard R. Hughes College of Engineering will host it's inaugural Homecoming reception, Thursday, October 15, 2009.
During the reception, two new laboratories will open honoring the work of community heroes for their dedication-Bob and Paula Mendenhall and the Las Vegas Paving Corporation will be recognized for their efforts to establish the "Mendenhall Innovation and Design Laboratory" (TBE, building B 172) and the Perini Construction Group will be recognized for the community services they secured to establish the "Perini Construction Engineering & Management Laboratory (TBE, building B 363).
The college will also pay tribute to founding dean and former mechanical engineering professor, Dr. William R. Wells. Wells first established the School of Engineering and then succeeded by establishing the Howard R. Hughes College of Engineering. The 2009 Homecoming concludes the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the college.
The event will conclude with the formal announcement of the college's alumni chapter while also recognizing the College Alumna of the Year-Doa J. Meade, P.E.
The event is free and open to community members, advisory board members, campus colleagues, college colleagues, and students.
