The Woodie Flowers Award celebrates effective communication in the art and science of engineering and design.  One adult mentor at each of the 40 Regional competitions is selected.

“By nurturing EVERY team member’s ideas, instilling patience and fairness, he gives us the spark of imagination that helps us focus on learning by doing, not just by observing a mentor.  Instead of just standing at the white board and drawing for us, he encourages us to list functions, to prioritize alternatives, and give constructive criticism in an engaging way, helping each other to understand what might, could, should, and CAN work.  He makes this FUN!”
