Senior Design Competition Results

 Twenty-two teams competed last week in the Spring 2009 Senior Design Competition at UNLV's Cox Pavilion.  The Howard R. Hughes College of Engineering is pleased to announce the following awards:

1st place, Civil and Environmental Engineering

Concrete Canoe- $1000 monetary prize to be divided equally amongst team participants.

Team participants Tiffany Hearn, Nicole Melton, and Adam Pocock.

2nd place, Civil and Environmental Engineering

Enhancing Transportation Experience at UNLV, $500 divided equally amongst team participants.

Multipurpose Dart Detection System- $1000 divided equally amongst team participants: Jeff Hurley, Michael Wong, and Cheng Yangli

2nd place, Electrical and Computer Engineering

Biomeetric Password Keeper- $500 divided equally amongst team participants: James Aden, Christopher Mcelhone, and Alison Mina

1st place, Mechanical Engineering

Lots of Pepper Now-$1,000 divided equally amongst the team participants: Sean Birnbaum, Elden Goddard, Christian Herrera, Stoil Pamoukov

2nd place, Mechanical Engineering

Supersonic Water Table: $500 divided equally amongst the team participants: David Glaser and Wade Mcelroy

1st place, Interdisciplinary engineering

Electric Car Conversion-$1,000 divided equally amongst the team participants from Electrical and Mechanical Engineering departments:  Makram Abd El Qader, Peter Faught, Bringham Joffs, Don Twyman, John Wardle

Instructor and Advisers: Dr. Brian Landsberger, Dr. Paolo Ginobbi, Dr. Venki Muthukumar, Dr. Yingtao Jiang, Dr. Jian Ma,  and Dr. Georg Mauer

Home Power Meter: $2500 divided equally amongst the team participants: Kenneth Hynes and Devin Taylor
